It’s About The Kids

Innocence has been lost. In today’s world, children aren’t safe at school and our foster care system fails the most basic tenets promised this most vulnerable block of children.

What We Do

Our children are our nation’s greatest asset.

Every child deserves safety, stability and the chance to thrive. At Kids First Alliance, we’re taking bold action on eight key issues and through two transformative programs focused on school security and preparing unadopted foster kids for a successful, self-sufficient life outside the system.

Servos School Security Systems Program

SERVOS (SIR-VOOS) is Latin for guardian, “to save, to keep, to guard, to watch over”

The KFA – Servos School Security Systems is a three-tiered security system to be implemented in select school districts in all 50 states to provide children with an environmental setting of security, safety and nutritional excellence. Our comprehensive multi-faceted set of protocols is based on specially trained cross-functional human responsibility combined with next-generation monitoring, communication and threat assessment technology.

The courage to aggressively revolutionize evergreen change in the approach to this problem is necessary for ultimate success and we feel it’s beyond time for systemic and effective solutions; our children’s lives may depend on it. KFA – Servos School Security Systems was created to deliver for children.

INICIO PREPACADEMY

Inicio Preparatory Academies Program

INICIO (EN-NEE-SEE-O) is Latin for inspire, “to guard, home, new beginnings”

The KFA – Inicio Prep Academies will exist in select states to provide alternative housing and educational options to foster youth, primarily between the ages of 12-18, in a safe, familial, learning, homestyle community setting. We are building campuses in multiple states. Our purpose is to instill hope, faith, knowledge, confidence, values, guidance and accountability for these children through a structure of family and stability.

These campuses are designed to leave no child behind due to circumstances beyond their control and to inspire and prepare this frequently forgotten 12–18-year-old age group with the life skills necessary to become productive members of society once they age out of the system. We owe it to these overlooked children; their lives and livelihood depend on us.

The Kid Crisis

Statistics tell a heartbreaking story:

Right now, nearly 10% of the 400,000 children who are trapped in a broken foster care system are about to be forced out at 18-years-old, wholly unprepared for their life ahead.

Last year, there were 83 school shootings in America leaving 116 children injured and 38 children dead.

Additional Issues

We have invested too much money as a country to have our children falling so far behind much of the world in crucial academic skills. One third of 8th graders can’t read--layers of bureaucracy like the Department of Education and inefficiency of local school boards and teachers’ unions have put other goals first and our kids’ education last.

This needs to change.

Kids First Alliance will systemically leverage our Servos School Security and Inicio Prep Academy relationships as well as support local candidates, measures and initiatives which put our children’s education front and center, before the interests of any politicians, unions or administrators.

To say our children are not eating nutritiously doesn’t begin to describe the problem. With processed foods loaded with sugar, unhealthy fats and chemicals, is it any wonder kids have anxiety, attention issues, cognitive impairment and other deficits, all while being expected to sit in classrooms to learn and absorb information? It’s now a proven fact that unhealthy ingredients in the standard American diet are particularly damaging to children’s health, growth and ability to learn and progress academically.

Kids First Alliance will address this problem legislatively and, on the ground, by leveraging our Servos School Security and Inicio Prep Academy relationships to help individual schools and school districts implement healthier nutrition for the children who spend so much of the day on their campuses.

There is still too much silence surrounding this insidious problem. Kids First Alliance intends to do whatever’s necessary to break this taboo that has been in place far too long, shining a light on a problem that has only been able to persist in the shadows. We want to make it safe for children to communicate and for their support systems to have the tools to help these vulnerable kids. There also needs to be stronger repercussions for adults who perpetuate this behavior which causes children to live in a nightmare every single day.

We will actively work to eliminate child abuse in foster care with our Inicio Prep Academies and inside K-12 with our Servos School Security protocol, as well as supporting local, state and federal candidates and initiatives in pursuit of these objectives.

Who can honestly say they aren’t horrified by what has come out about how widespread, brutal and life-destroying child trafficking is and how it seems to just be getting worse by the day? Every two minutes a child is sold into trafficking; 300,000 American children are victims of sexual exploitation every year. Of course, it’s not just American children that are trafficked inside the United States. This is a global problem that we can attack here.

Kids First Alliance will specifically address trafficking as it relates to the broken foster care system with our Inicio Prep Academies and bring our resources to bear financially, legislatively and via on the ground initiatives directed at combatting this horrible scourge.

Today’s social media landscape has created previously unimagined ways for children and teens to communicate. Unfortunately, the dark side for kids is bullying, abuse, spreading rumors and lies, causing alienation, isolation, depression and in some extreme cases, suicide. This is a very complex issue, but it is also one that has many potential remedies which often are not pursued.

Social media monitoring is part of our Servos School Security protocol and Kids First Alliance plans to further address this complicated subject through legislation and by bringing more awareness to the problem to help children and their support systems learn more about it and acquire the tools to combat the dark side of social media.

There are so many things our children must deal with that could affect their mental health and sense of well-being—social media/cell phones, bullying, home life, school issues and medications intended to help them (for example SSRIs) that end up causing more problems than they solve.

Some of these complex issues will specifically be addressed by Kids First Alliance, on the ground K-12 as part of our Servos School Security protocol and within the broken foster care system inside our Inicio Prep Academy campuses, but we strongly believe the deterioration of mental health in our children demands that we aggressively support this initiative via legislation and by generating awareness.

Illicit drugs are everywhere, and the problem has gotten worse in the last several years. While there are ways to address drug abuse, the problem has become much more difficult as we have lost control of the flow of illegal substances trafficked into the country by foreign cartels. With the opportunity now for numerous dangerous drugs finding their way to our children and the alarming rise in fentanyl overdoses, the problem is impossible, and irresponsible, to ignore. Adding to the challenge is the ubiquity of legal drugs like dangerous SSRI anti-depressants, anxiety medications and ADHD drugs that may have effects of which we’re not yet aware.

We will directly focus on awareness, understanding the risks and long-term side effects as part of our Servos School Security protocol and Inicio Prep Academies, as well as getting addicted children in our orbit the help they need and use all other Kids First Alliance resources legislatively, to generate awareness at the grassroots level, and to help fund research into the effects of dangerous prescription medications.

While Title IX has recently been restored to its original intention at the federal level, we still have work to do at the state and local levels. There continue to be many schools, clubs, cities, states and other areas where girls and women still must deal with unfair competition, and the danger of having to physically engage with biological men on the field, court, ice, or in the ring, not to mention the invasion of privacy by men in girls’ and women’s spaces.

While progress has been made federally, much work still needs to be done and our Kids First Alliance will be addressing it, primarily through legislation but also by strongly supporting separate sports and locker-rooms inside both our Servos School Security protocol and Inicio Prep Academy campuses, state by state and one school district at a time.
