While Title IX has recently been restored to its original intention at the federal level, we still have work to do at the state and local levels. There continue to be many schools, clubs, cities, states and other areas where girls and women still must deal with unfair competition, and the danger of having to physically engage with biological men on the field, court, ice, or in the ring, not to mention the invasion of privacy by men in girls’ and women’s spaces.
While progress has been made federally, much work still needs to be done and our Kids First Alliance will be addressing it, primarily through legislation but also by strongly supporting separate sports and locker-rooms inside both our Servos School Security protocol and Inicio Prep Academy campuses, state by state and one school district at a time.
Today’s social media landscape has created previously unimagined ways for children and teens to communicate. Unfortunately, the dark side for kids is bullying, abuse, spreading rumors and lies, causing alienation, isolation, depression and in some extreme cases, suicide. This is a very complex issue, but it is also one that has many potential remedies which often are not pursued.
Social media monitoring is part of our Servos School Security protocol and Kids First Alliance plans to further address this complicated subject through legislation and by bringing more awareness to the problem to help children and their support systems learn more about it and acquire the tools to combat the dark side of social media.
